Offroad

Contrary to popular belief, we suggest to use a CLS chain oiler offroad, instead of running a dry chain. The following pictures will show you why.
A fat coated chain quickly gets a layer of emery on it, due to the dirt that keeps sticking to the fat. This emery literally grinds the chain down and thus causes a rapid wear. An oiled chain however hardly binds any dirt, on the contrary, the fresh oil virtually “flushes” the chain clean. Whereas term “flushes” is over the top and sounds like more than it actually is. While offroading, the oil feed is increased by 3-5 clicks, dependent on the road surface. The results are the same as on this BMW F800 GS.

The chain is always perfectly lubricated, but still clean. Because of the extremely accurate dosage of the CLS Speed, you won’t even find any oil soiling on the motorcycle.

This Triumph pair was operated through Iceland’s terrain. The pictures speak for themselves. The this magnetic lava dust covers the whole motorcycle, only the chain stays clean.

Experience report about CLS chain oilers

After buying the chain oil system at the exhibition in Sinsheim, we had it installed into our Triumph-Tiger pair by our dealer “E-Motec” in Renningen.

After a few hundred kilometers on ordinary roads, it was the system’s time to prove its reliability under extreme conditions.

On Iceland’s roads – or rather what the Icelander calls as such, when he’s pointing at the map – our chain and the whole bikes, including drivers and passengers, were put under lots of stress.

We had everything you could expect off road: water passages, dust, boulders, mud and thin lava dust.

After 3,000km on these tracks, there is no trace of wear-out on the chain, sprocket or pinion.

The dosage of the oil can be properly adjusted with the rotary switch. The only thing you need to mind, is that the hose at the sprocket does not get clogged.

You actually can completely forget about the chain and trust in the system.

But, when going off road for 3,000km, you should make sure to adequately fill up the tank of the CLS system.

After our return to Germany, there was only enough oil for about another 5,000km left in the tank.

We, Kurt and Michaela, can only recommend the CLS system and we will keep using it on our other pair of bikes aswell.
