The CLS EVO Tour is part of the new generation of chain oilers by CLS.
The system uses a special dosing pump, made for this very purpose, which also fundamentally differentiates the system from other oilers. Simpler systems, gravity based ones for example, use up about 7 times more oil, which is reflected in the soiling of the vehicle.
The lubricant travels from the tank through a filter, into the pump. From there, the oil is dispensed in minimal quantities out of a nozzle, onto the flank of the sprocket.
Inside of the box of the electrical unit, which regulates the oil dosage, is also a surge- and reverse-polarity-protection. All electrical components are encapsuled in permanently elastic resin.
Simply attach the system to the poles of the 12V battery. It constantly observes the battery voltage, which is a linear direct voltage while the engine is turned off. Upon engine start, the voltage changes and becomes slightly rippled, due to loads like ignition, alternator, etc. attached to the battery. The system detects this difference and automatically turnes the lubrication on or off, as soon as the engine is running or not.
The mircoprocessor reads the setting from the rotary switch/the CLS Control display and doses the equivalent amount of oil through the pump. The oil’s temperature-dependent viscosity does not matter because of the special design of the CLS EVO pump.
Therefore you can adjust the CLS EVO Tour’s settings very precisely, compared to compatitive chain oilers.
One stroke from the pump dispenses a very thin drop of oil through a nozzle onto the flank of the sprocket. Due to the revolution of the sprocket, the oil is distributed like a thin string and then pushed into the chain by the centrifugal force. Through the oils capilar attributes, it reaches under the chain roller and into the inside of the chain. The roller now runs on a very friction reducing film of oil on the chain bush, which drastically reduces the wear-out of the chain.
Because of the piston pump, especially designed for this system, and the special oil, you won’t need to increase the oil feed at constant speeds up to 160km/h. Exceeding the 160km/h does not matter for up to 20min on the base setting. This way the CLS EVO Tour covers all aspects of driving ordinary roads.
You can easily adjust the oil feed via rotary switch/CLS Control display while driving. The oil feed should be increased during long rides at high speeds, rides on dusty tracks or during the rain.
The CLS EVO Tour of course is waterproof and has no wear parts. Utilizing high-quality components, the CLS EVO Tour is very tough and reliable, even under extreme circumstances.
